MECexpress uses Paypal® merchant services to process our payment transactions.  During the payment portion of your transaction, you will be transferred to Paypal's highly guarded secure servers.  The following is Paypal's security statement:  "The security of your information, transactions, and money is the core of our business and our top priority at PayPal.  PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available)."

As reported in a recent Knight-Ridder News Service article (which appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer), "There were no reports of credit-card information stolen on the World Wide Web during a transfer of information over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line, the kind of line used by Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Explorer. There were no slip-ups. None." Experts point out that an on-line transaction without other humans involved as intermediaries is far safer because the information is immediately encoded into a 128 character block that can only be decoded by a computer on the other side.
